Thank you for visiting my Blog, I use this opportunity to share info about my vision for the practitioner that I desire to be for you and to give insight about the modalities I love to share with my community.

There is definitely a curiosity regarding the use of dry needling in my Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine practice. My approach to this traditional medicine in our modern lives is an integrated traditional and western practice including Acupuncture needles, moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, electrical stimulation, acupressure, stretching and advance techniques that resonate the most for me for treating my clients is a whole body health approach.

Several years ago non-acupuncturist were given privilege to use one acupuncture technique they coined "dry needling". Interesting because all the needles we used are "dry," meaning there is nothing inserted or injected in to the body with Traditional Acupuncture. The technique is traditionally called (Hegu) "lifting and thrusting" this particular technique was first mentioned in Chinese classical text, The Yellow Emperor and in Sun Si-Mao/ The Ling Shu over 2000 years ago.

Acupuncturist take a wholistic view of the pain and dysfunction an individual is experiencing. Dry Needling/ Hegu is not usually a stand alone technique. However non-acupuncturist have privilege to ONLY use this stand alone technique as there is limited knowledge in the wholistic practice of Traditional Acupuncture as a wholistic medicine/ healing art.

As a traditional Acupuncturist and Chinese Medicine Practitioner, Dr Peterson uses evidence based protocols, customized treatments, whole body or pain treatment may include the "Hegu" technique but it usually is not the only technique used to help you reduce pain and get you

back to a wholistic balance in your body.

Book your session with Dr Shawnte' Peterson for a wholistic assessment of how acupuncture can help you.
